2016 Kinsmen Music Festival

The 62nd Annual Kinsmen Music Festival wrapped up with the Concert of the Stars and awards presentations at Aultsville Theatre in Cornwall, Ontario on April 10, 2016. The festival was a huge success!  We would like to thank and congratulate all the students and teachers!!

Awards were presented to the following students:

  • Kinsmen Trophy (conservatory vocals class): Benjamin Vreman

  • St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital Trophy (piano sonatina): Reegan Derikx

  • Dr. Bruce Wheatcroft Trophy (music theatre or pop music): Sarah Caddell

  • Oscar Peterson Memorial Trophy (jazz blues/piano): Evelyn Cumming

  • Kim Baird Trophy (musical theatre or pop piano): Magali Nichol

  • Gertrude Lavoie Memorial Trophy (conservatory piano, Grades 1-3) Mikaela Rae Peet

  • Kinsmen Piano Trophy (beginner or pre-conservatory pianist): Siri Neville

  • Cornwall Mazda Trophy (Canadian composers piano): Reegan Derikx

  • Kubelka Trophy (four hands, duet team): Abigail Newton and Lia Underwood

  • Piano Challenge Class (1st place $100): tie between Heath Patterson and Anne Marie Conway
                                               (2nd place $50): tie between Abigail Small and Elizabeth Newton
                                               (3rd place $25): Magoli Nichol

  • Six $50 cash bursaries donated by 2014 Kinsmen Music Festival piano adjudicator, Karen Rowell were presented to: Kathyrn Stephenson (voice), Benjamin
    Vreman (voice), Heath Patterson (elementary piano), Abigail Small (junior piano), Reegan Derikx (intermediate piano), Anne Marie Conway (senior piano)
    Recommended for the piano to attend the Ontario Music Festival Association provincial competition in Peterborough in June: Anne Marie Conway and Reegan

2016 Kinsmen Pizza Party

The 10th annual Kinsmen Pizza Party was a HUGE success. The sold out fundraiser were attendees sample pizzas from eight local restaurants raised over $14,000, bringing then events 10 year total to over $135,000. All of which stays in our community to help youth with sports, academics, and those in need. The funds raised from this year's event were donated to Cornwall Wildcats Football to purchase new helmets to keep the kids safe, Longue Sault Public School Spec Ops Program (a fitness and character development program), Koala Place Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in Cornwall, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall & District, and the family of Sean Cowan, an Eamer’s Corners Public School student battling leukemia.

This year’s judges winners are: 

          1st - Louis Pizzeria
          2nd - Pizza Pizza
          3rd - 2-4-1 Pizza

People's Choice winners:
          1st - Louis Pizzeria
          2nd - Bobby's Place
          3rd - 2-4-1 Pizza
